I heard about those firefighters yesterday. Sucks.

I'm whining about it being 90+F with 50%ish humdity and it's way worse in AZ.

    Re: Burning Arizona

Over here in G'dale, close to Arrowhead and it's currently 105f and rising...was up to 119f yesterday.
Somewhat cooler temps today, possibly topping out at around 115f.
I was born here and loved the heat...loved, loved, loved it...now that I'm closing in on 60 and spent the last 4 years in SE Asia, where it was hot, but not like this kinda hot, and got wussed out heat wise... I'm good at jungle heat right now
    This sux.

Horrible 'bout the hot shots up at Yarnell.
My prayers and thought go out to each and every family member connected to them and to the City of Prescott.

I don't have a fancy conky setup like VinDsl, but my-weather-indicator, does have a nice little display. I changed the temp units to ˚F to make it easier for those of you who don't understand celcius.

I'm a "native" too. Phoenix/Scottsdale/Payson, in that order. Won't mean anything to ppl here, but you know what I mean.

    I l-o-v-e the heat, too!

For everyone else, ppl that love heat are called "desert rats". Ppl from G'dale are called "flatlanders". I'm a "hillbilly", I guess. LoL!

Anyway, Hotshots are a different breed. They give_it_there_all. It really is sad. They're the last "real men" left in America.

The one "survivor" lived because he went to move the truck. Think he'll have "survivor's guilt"?!?!?

Interesting! That probably seems hot to you, but...

To me, that's perfect weather. Body temp for humans is 100º give_or_take.

Perfect air temp for us is 88º. Perfect water temp is 92º.

IMO, 90º-100º air temp is optimum. Things start going downhill rapidly around 105º.

Above 105º you go into survival mode. 110º and above is deadly!

    >= 115º everything starts dropping dead around you.

That's where we are at, right now...

    Re: Burning Arizona

I'm Aussie, but was fortunate to live in Arizona (Kingman way) for a while and loved it. So disturbing to hear about the firefighters... my condolences to the families and extended family. And to all Arizonians, keep your head down and the pickup loaded and fueled.

    Glendale- flatlanders good one.
I was born n raised in Yuma, to which my Wisconsin relatives called the sand box.
"Why would anyone in their right mind live here..?"

Only at 110 right now, so I guess it's cooling off. Better get the down jacket out.
