Well it'd be extremely helpful to know what hardware you're running.

Not to be rude but this is the hardware section and it's hard to begin helping without some info on the hardware that you're using.

Re: Battery life very low in Ubuntu 13.04

I have the same issue. I'm working on a HP EliteBook 8440p. With Ubuntu 12.10 my battery life was somewhere between 2-3 hours depending on what I was working with, but in Ubuntu 13.10 my battery got drained in less than 15 minutes, in some cases even in 6 minutes! Changing the screen brightness (backlight) makes almost no difference. At first I tought that Ubuntu was wrong in the battery life forecastings and preliminary shut down my laptop, but I checked in the BIOS and it also showed that the battery was completely empty.

I have two colegues who are having exactly the same problem with the EliteBook 8440p and Ubuntu 13.04.

@ fluxw42 - What video card is being used? I know in my situation if I don't install proprietary drivers for my graphics then my battery life is awful.

@NBPX - I'd also look to see if you can install different graphics drivers. I'm not too savvy with ATI drivers but I do know that there's an AMD ATI catalyst driver that may or may not support that card. Check out this link: http://www.noobslab.com/2013/04/inst...rivers-in.html

Using X.org drivers because proprietary drivers don't work correctly.

I will try it, but probably will not work.
