Displaying mounted volumes on desktop in LXDE?

    OK heres my question:

In Ubuntu if you plug in a flash drive or other external drive after a second or so it shows up as an icon on the desktop. To click on and open or right click and unmount etc.

I would like to do something similar in Lubuntu. However, browsing around it seems like this is not possible, at least out of the box. I'm a bit confused now. Is there something I can install that will allow me to do this? to display mounted volumes on the dsktop?

    Thanks

I know this can be done because when I was first introduced to Lubuntu the person had a flash drive icon pop up on their desktop when it was inserted. Just in my ignorance I can't figure it out how.

Not sure if this applies to LXDE, but look here:

It is an older post and you would have to make the adjustments for LXDE.

Thanks for the idea. I'm not an expert in the different DE's but will see if I can make that work.
