Ubuntu 13.04, friends app

So yes, I understand Gwibber was abandoned/reworked into Friends. However, when I run Friends (from terminal or from *.desktop), it just closes. Terminal returns null, and nothing happens. I have Ubuntu 13.04 (that I've converted to UbuntuKylin, just to say I could), and it won't work. I've gone as far as to reinstall my entire setup.

I remember opening and reading discussion about the friends app in beta and I find the package in synaptic not installed.
