This is actually a very good office package. It is much more compatible with MS-Office as compared to how Libre-Office are to MS-Office. And the interface of this office suite is miles ahead of Libre-Office.

The only downside is that it is not opensource, so a lot of purists wont want to touch it and some paranoid's may also have difficulty entrusting their info and work into this office suite without knowing if any backdoors etcetera may exist.

They should open source all the code not requiring a patent as well as all the ui art. Only keep the patented stuff like how to properly render a MS Word document closed and make it so that at compile time one can specify build flags if you want the non FOSS stuff enabled or not.

    Greetings!

I am running WPS Alpha 10 and it runs well but all Writer documents are rendered and formatted in italics, no matter what style you set. Is this just a alpha bug or am I missing something I can correct myself?

I'm seeking all english Kingsoft forums for questions so if you have any tips please leave some. Thanks!

I have both Kingsoft and Libre installed. The two important features (for me) missing from Kingsoft are a customizable auto-correct and the ability to vertically center text (also missing in Libre and which they've known about for years).

I'm fed up with Libre's Word Processor. It's a complete mess -- drooling with bugs (again, known about for years). From what I can tell, Libre's devs are obsessed with Calc. As soon as Kingsoft gets auto-correct and vertically centered text, I won't be going back to Libre.

Note: If the mods are going to be fussily editing posts, at least say so so that other readers understand that what they're reading represents the moderator's opinions and not those of the original author.

Most Chinese people only use the following three office suites:
    Microsoft Office
WPS Office (a.k.a Kingsoft Office. QT, for Win / Linux / iOS / Android)
Yozo Office (a.k.a Evermore Integrated Office, EIOffice. Java platform software, for Win / Linux / Android)

Very few Chinese people use iWork.

Almost Windows users do not use LibreOffice and OpenOffice, too weak! Except for some Linux users.

WPS and Yozo mainly to develop the Chinese version, their English/Japanese version updates slower.
WPS/Yozo Office personal edition is free in China.
WPS for Linux is a freeware.
As of now Kingsoft Office for Linux is in Alpha version so there are few limitations and there could be some bugs as well.
Currently, Yozo Office Linux version is better than WPS for Linux, but relatively poor UI and font rendering. There is no free Yozo Office personal english edition, so I will not introduce more.

If you know Chinese, you can download the free version

I've wanted to know Chinese since I was child. Living next to Dartmouth, maybe I'll finally get to study Chinese and Japanese one oIf jf these days.

With the Chinese switching to Ubuntu/Linux as their official OS, I don't doubt that projects like Kingsoft and Yozo will be shifting into overdrive. I recently read that the population of China's first grade class exceeded the entire population of the United States. If just one generation moves to "Linux", desktop Linux could easily represent 50% of the world's market share (then Bug #1 truly would be fixed). That's hard to ignore.

WPS has no customizable auto-correct feature, but Yozo Office has it.
