    Installing on EEE

    Hi

I've tried to read the forums on how to install UBuntu on my PC's and I cant do it. I need it written really simply with all the commands I need to type in to do it.

Just to be clear I have 2 EEEPC's 1 has unbuntu installed but there is a problem and it cant update and I cant access the app centre though it still works. The other has windows on it but I want Ubuntu on it as well.

There only 32 and 64 gb hard drives and all i do is use them to watch movies and surf the internet when im away. I dont want to save any settings I dont want to have partitions or anything. I just want ubuntu and nothing else saved. Total wipe/ format and install ubuntu.

Please understand I need a step by step guide with the correct commands to put into the computer.

The computer that has UBUNTU on it i paid a shop to put it on, he said it was easy to do but i didnt have time. Ive since downladed the ubuntu install onto that computer but have no idea how to wipe it and re install it???

    Cheers in advance.

Re: Help spastic old clueless dude trying to install Ubuntu

I think this is a really good guide on how to do a fresh install of ubuntu: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/deskt...desktop-latest

I suggest you do it that way for all your laptops, if you don't want to save any settings and such.

Oh, I forgot: If you don't have a ubuntu DVD or USB, look at these guides:

Burn a ubuntu DVD on windows: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/deskt...dvd-on-windows
Make a ubuntu USB on windows: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/deskt...ick-on-windows

If you have any questions during the install, just ask.

Please use a more informative thread title.

The EEE is not powerful hardware, so I would suggest Lubuntu in stead of Ubuntu.
Bringing old hardware back to life. About problems due to upgrading.

Don't use this space for a list of your hardware. It only creates false hits in the search engines.

Umm Im trying to put ubuntu 12.4 0n it. No idea about the others?? I have ubuntu running on the 64GB one? Well ubuntu comes up when its booting and it works fine??

Got into F2 and disabled the other drives so only insert able would boot.

    Now have on the screen,

Reboot and select proper boot device
or insert boot media in selected bot device and press a key

Ive tried putting the USB stick in all 3 usb drives and get the same message??
