Ubuntu 13.04 does not lock screen after screen saver

This is not a problem that started in 13.04, but I am not sure when it got broken. Basically, what happens is for my standard user, one that I have been using for a long time and that I bring along with me whenever I upgrade versions, screen does not lock after screen saver (black screen) gets active. However, if I create a new user from scratch, everything works fine, screen locks and asks for passsword after screen saver activation. I could of course create a new user for myself and migrate everything, but I just hope there is a simpler way of fixing this. Ideas, anyone? Thank you very much!

At least with xscreensaver (which I am running) the settings are not easy to understand from the text in the GUI. If I remember correctly you should set the time for locking the screen to 1 (minute) to have it start one minute after the screensaving starts.
