Mint 14 Not booting after sleep/hibernate

I have a problem with my computer not working after I put it into sleep/hibernate.
I have a HP dv7 amd processor and Linux Mint 14 with KDE installed.
I can put it into sleep/hibernate just fine but when I try to wake up from it the screen stays dark even though I can still turn the volumes up and down and change the brightness of the screen.
However I can't see anything on the screen.
Is it just a general problem with linux or is there a solution to this?

And what advice have you received from the Linux Mint forum? You are using a distribution that is not part of the Ubuntu family.

How much RAM do you have in your machine? How large is the swap partition? Where is the state of the OS stored when we select Sleep/Hibernate? In the swap partition? Yes. And if the swap partition is smaller than the amount of RAM what might happen? The state of the OS might not be saved.

    Regards.
It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.

Re: Mint 14 Not booting after sleep/hibernate

You should really ask your question on the Mint forum. Ubuntu uses the neither MATE nor the
Cinnamon desktop environment. Not in any version of it. So this hasn't been taken into account
and these packages aren't even part of the standard Ubuntu repositories.

Support will be slim on this forum. You might be lucky and someone may be able to help you
along, but the chance is pretty slim. Just a piece of advice.
