Burning propriety 'safeguards' (blocks against other operating systems into firmware most likely violates international competition laws agreed by US unless it is very clearly advertised to consumers. In this case neither Microsoft or Asus advertised such restrictions. Note when I reported this an international organization I consult with Asus was put on watch list, which essentially mans they won't buy from them...because their lawyers thought their equipment may violate international free trade rules. A small victory for open-source software.
