    Anyone using Clementine's "rain" function?

I am wondering, whether any of you actually use it and what for

I mean...I find the sounds of heavy rain and/or storm relaxing, when hidden at home or at the porch. But listening to (synthetic) rain without using the other senses, why?

Agreed, cannot understand why anybody would want to distort their music with any effects... The best amplifier should be a straight wire with gain

You could just use the rain effect with the compiz plugin 'water effect'.

    Initiate the wipers too.

I used to have one of those "Aquarium " screensavers on my last computer c/w sound effects. Someone was in my office one morning and told me they thought there was a serious water leak somewhere, because they could hear the running water.

Re: Anyone using Clementine's "rain" function?

I put it on sometimes when I am not playing any music simply because it is atmospheric and I enjoy the sound of rain and storms. Indeed there is nothing quite like the sound of rain on a roof or an approaching storm. Growing up in Tallahassee and then moving out to Oregon, I definitely have learned how to appreciate the awesome life-giving and yet destructive power Mother Nature can summon forth from the æthers.

Think of it as a built-in nature soundtrack.

Really don't understand the point in that feature... I am the type of person that won't use any effects on music. I like it just the way that it was intended to sound

It is not necessarily to be used as an effect on music. I use it while I am studying, reading, or doing whatever I cannot do while listening to standard music. Nevertheless, I use it sometimes as an effect, especially in conjunction with some styles of instrumental music.

It's a perfect white noise generator to blank the noise in the office....

Yeah, its one of those nice little FOSS quirks

Using it now. Although I must admit I prefer listening to a real storm!
