re encode audio files within Rhythmbox

My question is, has anyone written a plugin for Rhythmbox that would allow me to select music in my library > right click > and convert to another format? Or something along those lines?

When I want to put music on my phone in a more compressed format (my library is all in .flac and .alac), it seems its a longer process than it needs to be. There is a disconnect between making a selection of music within Rhythmbox, and then re encoding the selection using other programs like avconv etc. I use Rhythmbox to rip my CDs, it would be nice if I could do the same with files already in my music library.

Alternatively, what is a good music player/manager for Ubuntu that would allow me to select music and re encode it without having to open another program?
