Re: Ethernet and wifi not working

Varunendra: Sure enough! I changed the lines in "interfaces" file and now the network is up at boot. Thanks. Howerver, it only connects via ethernet. It does not hook up wireless because it continues to ask me for the password, even now that I am connected via ethernet. It did not do that before. I will try to send the netinfo.txt in a moment. No # symbols in my box here, though.

It should be in the "Advanced Edit" mode, where I've marked in the attached screenshot.
Or you can just manually add [code] .. and..[/code] at the beginning and end of the desired text

Please use code tags - if you are using New Reply button - highlight text and use the # button in the text box header.

If using Quick Reply then [code] at the beginning and [/code] at the end.

Re: Ethernet and wifi not working

Hi, please post the output of..
    Code:
    cat /etc/network/interfaces
also your wirelese configuration needs to be
    wap2-aes...NOT TKIP
so please change that as well.
    thanks.

Re: Ethernet and wifi not working

Hadaka, I checked the security of the wireless and it says WAP2. Actually, I did not even see any option for TKIP. Strange. Let me add that a while ago, wifi go disconnected and I could not get back to reconnect. I had to re-boot the computer to get it to connect. ( ? ). I connected the ethernet and connected alright, but I was not able to navigate, even though the routing tables were OK. So, I rebooted.

    Code:
    oquiros@TOSHI:~$ sudo cat /etc/network/interfaces
    [sudo] password for oquiros:
    auto lo

Re: Ethernet and wifi not working

Please re-run the wireless script and generate a fresh "netinfo.txt" file to show us the current status. The one you uploaded is obviously not current as it is showing the older 'interfaces' file contents.

Re: Ethernet and wifi not working

Hi, after you re-run the netinfo, script
and paste it here. then please change the
TKIP setting in your ROUTER settings..
    chane it to wpa2-psk or wpa2-aes .
this should also help speed up your wireless connection.
    thanks.
