ubuntu 13.04 boots into black screen

i moved form vista too ubunutu and had a few problems installing and i have some minor bugs within ubunutu eg can't search in computer for apps etc icons are sometimes missing or yellow, my main problem is after loging in it goes to black screen it has done it before but a reboot solved the problem

Can you provide some more information about your hardware? Since this problem may be related to the graphics card, include information about the card and which driver you are using.
