    Re: Linux 3.10 - rc1

Oh, drat! Now, the initial nVidia driver module is failing to build.

Guess I'll need to play the video driver shell game -- looking for nVidia drivers that recognize Linux 3.10

    Hrm...

I had to patch my nVidia drivers, when Linux 3.9 hit_the_street. Maybe, I'll try that again.

Anybody have any luck, getting nVidia legacy drivers, e.g. 304.x, working with Linux 3.10?!?!?

P.S. Really fast boot for being an rc1
    Code:
    ~$ lsb_release -a && uname -r
    No LSB modules are available.
    Distributor ID:	Ubuntu
    Description:	Ubuntu 13.10
    Release:	13.10
    Codename:	saucy
    3.10.0-031000rc1-generic
Yeah, I was surprised with the boot time. So far it's working smoothly, like a charm.
Please mark your thread as solved if you get a satisfactory response.

I noticed that there is saucy available now. Installed and ready to try. People have been saying that it's fast booting. Very curious too see if I see any change.

I'm having the same problem with nvidia-313-updates. I removed them for the time being just to be able to boot with 3.10. I do not notice a marked improvement in boot time, maybe a couple of seconds.

My 'shell game' is finding nvidia drivers that allow resuming from suspend and VT's. 313 seems to be it right now, but now there's a third shell - will the drivers work with Linux 3.10? Oh well, I'm sure it will all get straightened out by and by...

    Re: Linux 3.10 - rc1

    http://www.h-online.com/open/news/it...d-1861273.html

With 11,963 commits, Torvalds and his co-developers have integrated more changes than have ever been processed in a merge window before, prompting Torvalds to declare: "this is the biggest -rc1 in the last several years (perhaps ever)". However, diffstat's number of new and removed lines of code is only slightly higher than in Linux 3.9 and is far from being a new record.
    Very interesting...

Though i'm quite happy with 3.9, and not in a rush. I'll wait until the saucy updates come along.

I don't see any difference 3.10 vs 3.9. Other than ati driver doesn't install as a module.

Had to use a workaround, of sorts -- got impatient and replaced nVidia-304 with Nouveau.

Took a while to tweak Nouveau's performance to match nVidia-304.
