Are download managers even relevant any more?

Resume on Firefox doesn't always act right with a slow/unstable connection, so unfortunately, yes =o(

For anything that will take a couple hours (700MB or more) but doesn't have a torrent, I use DownThemAll! It started out as a way to mass-download all the links off a page, but it offers queueing and speed limits along with the typical features you'd find in a download manager. I've been using it for the better half of a decade just to pause/resume reliably without any issues.
Any advice given is the direct result of my experience solving my problems on my system. I have no idea what I'm talking about. ~bouge

For me, yes. I use aria, a command line DM. It resumes broken downloads like a charm, and searches for multiple download links to speed things up.

I'm happy using aria2 in the terminal. Doesn't get much easier. Just type in aria2c then paste the link address after. Thanks anyway.
