The only way to run the latest flash player is to install Google Chrome on your system although being such an old release I couldn't say if chrome would work at all...

You can't on such an ancient version of Ubuntu. Get a copy of 12.04 and install Google Chrome and you will have the latest Flash Player.
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.

    Welcome to the Ubuntu Forums

Before starting to download an iso file, please post the specs of your computer. That helps us suggest what flavour of Ubuntu for select, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu, Kubuntu ... and where to find it.

But generally, browse the internet for

    download lubuntu
    download xubuntu

    download kubuntu

The answer is yes. But you cannot store it on the CD-rom. It is possible to store it on an external drive. The simplest kind is a USB pendrive or a flash card. You can also boot from it, if the computer is new enough to do it. Otherwise you can use a persistent live system, with a casper-rw file or partition to store installed programs and other saved files (documents, pictures etc).
