Wired network not working in non-X(?) apps

    Hi!
I've been scratching my head and installing/removing/configuring stuff for a few days now trying to figure out how this could possibly happen.
But I'm out of ideas, so you guys are my last hope.

I am not using (apt-get --purge removed) Network-Manager since this computer only has 1 wired ethernet card, no wireless and it is always stationary.

    So here it goes:
My network connection works fine in Firefox.
    It works fine in Chromium.
    And it works in Synaptic.

But it doesn't work from most command line apps, like ping, git, traceroute, etc.
Doesn't matter if they are started from a tty, gnome-terminal, konsole or eterm.
Games through WINE don't work either. Doesn't matter if I launch them from the terminal or a .desktop link.
    Same with Steam for Linux.

elinks, however, works fine everywhere, and so does subversion.
    But not git?

Could it be a glibc problem?
I am running with the xorg testers, gnome3, ricotz testing+staging PPAs and some others as well.

    Code:
    $ ifconfig -a
    eth0
              Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 20:cf:30:69:15:d3

It looks like /etc/resolv.conf is broken. What does your /etc/network/interfaces look like?

Do yourself a favor and reinstall network-manager. It's kind of an invasive framework:
