Go to System Settings > Brightness and Lock and set the time out duration or turn off lock
BTW, the Downthemall! addon for firefox can resume downloading even after you reboot. To restart a download open Firefox, go to Tools > Downthemall!Tools and click manager
Thanks Monkeybrain
Will have to give firefox a go
