DC Power Adaptor Question

I'm hoping The Cafe is the right place for this question.

For everyone that is knowledgable about AC and DC power, I have a baby monitor that is scking the life out of all my batteries. I'm tired of buying a bunch of batteries for this thing. It as a DC plug in the side, but I have no idea what DC adaptor to buy for it. I attached two pics of the baby monitor.

The plug says "DC IN 9V" then has a symbol of a negative to a positive sign.

Just be sure the adaptor's output is 9 volts, with the center tap positive.

Does it show a mA amount?

Take it in to Fry's or Radio Shack, they will set you up. Or, find a neighbor with a ham radio antenna, they will probably have a power supply that will work.

+1. I looked at the Sony site and they really don't have much information about it. Taking it to Radio Shack or Fry's would probably be the best thing to do.

I checked the baby monitor and there is no mA specification. So I'm not sure what to do with that.

Probably. I am a bit leery about buying stuff like that online because of the "what if it is the wrong size" factor. Taking it to a local electronics store might help you match up what size plug you need and then you can find one online.

That one is 650 mA.

No! As long as the voltage is correct the current rating of the adapter could by anything higher than required so you could use a 10A adapter and it would work fine. The device will only draw as much current as it needs.

So it "looks" like the receiver & transmitter can use the same AC adapter. Are the connectors the same?

Another option would be to use rechargeable batteries.
