    Mail toolbar notification

    Hello,

I am extremely new to Ubuntu and just updated to 13.04. I have noticed that my mail client (was Thunderbird, now Evolution) will not notify you of new mail unless you actually have the application open. I don't understand why I have to have my mail window minimized or in the background in order to receive a notification of mail.

Is there any way that I can change this? Is there something that I am missing? I do like the fact that Thunderbird would be shown at the top toolbar along with Empathy, but I doubt you can do that with Evolution, especially since the update and Empathy is full of crazy bugs at the moment.

    Any thoughts?

It should or could still be Thunder Bird, but all I do is open Thunder Bird and then minimize it into the Unity side bar, and for when you get a new email a notification badge will appear on the icon of Thunder Bird in the Unity side bar.
