Exclamation new virus for linux ?

This week a new large-scale malware was discovered, and it’s receiving a lot of attention for two reasons. First, it is specifically designed to target victims’ bank accounts. Second, it is specifically designed for the Linux operating system. Selling for $2000 per copy, the “Hand of a Thief” trojan brings into question the security with which Linux users have operated relative to their Windows-using cousins. It is currently the least virus-affected platform, with even fewer pieces of malicious software than Mac OS, but that perception is beginning to shift.

The developers of the virus claim that it works on “15 different Linux desktop distributions, including Ubuntu, Fedora, and Debian.” It works by exploiting vulnerabilities in most major web browsers, including Firefox and Chrome.

Re: new virus for linux ?

First, it's not a virus, but a trojan.
Second, the "news" was reported some four weeks ago.
