    13.04 shutdown/restart menu

After upgrading to 13.04 I have had some problems with the drop down menu on the far right top of the screen. Here's a screenshot.

As you can see, there is only a choice for "Suspend" or "Shut Down". The problem is, that when I click "Shut Down" my computer restarts instead of shutting down. I looked online and tried a Boot-Repair (from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair). Now the same thing happens, but it restarts to a Grub menu... eek!

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Re: 13.04 shutdown/restart menu

That is very strange. On my desktop I do not get Suspend (not really needed on a desktop). I get Logout which you do not get. With 13.04 when we click Shut Down we should also get a nice looking dialog box asking us if we want to Restart or Shut Down. You do not see this.

Are you using one of the official themes or did you install another theme? Was that the theme that was set when you upgraded? I do not think that this has anything to do with Booting/Grub because that process has long gone by the time you are clicking Shut Down. I am thinking a messed up theme.

    Regards.

You are right, I see no dialog box.

    I am on "Radiance" theme...

Another clue into this problem... before the upgrade, pressing the power button used to make my computer go to standby. Now when I press the power button on my computer, it shuts down (no dialog box). And it also turns on automatically to a grub prompt.

    Re: 13.04 shutdown/restart menu

    Hi

Was this a fresh install or an update-manager upgrade ?

Create a new user and login as that user.

What shutdown/logout/restart options do you have ?

    Try shutting down.

If it shuts down correctly then try resetting all your dconf settings when logged in as your main user.

    Kind regards

    Re: 13.04 shutdown/restart menu

    Thanks for the input!

I fixed it by resetting all settings from unity & compiz (http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2013/04/h...2-10-and-13-04) and gnome (http://askubuntu.com/questions/56313...o-the-defaults)... so now it looks like a fresh install, and works fine.

    Cheers.
