13.04 - The system network services are not compatible with this version

I have installed Ubuntu 13.04 on an Aspire Acer PC and this is the first thing I see when I try to connect to the internet.
I have tried reverting to previous versions of the network manager as here but that has caused more problems with Ubuntu forcing me to install the newer versions and with the password constantly being queried.
I have had this problem ('not compatible...' with other Linux distributions (Fedora, Mint). I assume there could be a problem with the Wifi Link 5100 network card.
I have tried sudo modprobe -r iwlwifi sudo modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=1
but I get "Module iwlwifi is in use". Although I did have some success with connecting after this but after a reboot everything went back to not working and never worked again even after entering the mentioned commands.
After the modprobe commands I don't get the error in the topic, but the wifi still doesn't work. It does try to connect to networks, although failing each time.

It seems to randomly connect sometimes, it can work for a day or so and then stops working again.

Re: 13.04 - The system network services are not compatible with this version

    Try this:
    Code:
    echo "options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
and reboot. It makes it permanent via system file

Re: 13.04 - The system network services are not compatible with this version

Nothing has changed, I still get the same "The system network services are incompatible..." when I open the network settings.
The wifi icon doesn't blink like crazy, but it doesn't see any networks either.

    Lets check:
    Code:
    ifconfig -a
    iwconfig
    iwlist chan
    sudo iwlist scan
    route -n
    dmesg | grep iwl
    cat /etc/network/interfaces
    cat /etc/resolv.conf

    There are no nameservers listed:
    Code:
    echo -e "nameserver 8.8.8.8\nnameserver 8.8.4.4" | sudo tee -a /etc/resolv.conf
    sudo iwconfig wlan0 power off
    sudo service network-manager restart
Which of the networks is yours? I recommend changing to pure WPA2-AES encryption, check the router manual

Re: 13.04 - The system network services are not compatible with this version

I am actually writing this from the ubuntu and I haven't entered these commands in fear of everything stopping working. It is connected to wifi and it is stable. This happened before, but what usually happens is that the next time I switch on the computer or restart it or w/e - the wifi doesn't work.
