ibus on Skype in 13.04 doesn't activate?

I just did the update on my machine from 12.10 to 13.04.

I was able to type fine in Skype chat window when I was running 12.10 just fine, but as soon as I did my update, I can no longer do that. Now I can't type in Japanese anymore.

Anyone else had this issue? Is there a solution?

It works fine in my case. Is this issue only with Skype, or other programs too?

It's only on Skype, which is very strange ... Japanese ibus works just fine for everything else.

Just to clarify, I can type fine in English in Skype. I just can't enter Japanese

Just to add, I seem to be able to enter Japanese characters using ibus on my laptop which also went through the 12.10->13.04 upgrade. I still cannot on my desktop. The difference is that my laptop runs 32bit while my desktop runs 64bit.
