Question Two general Ubuntu 12.10 questions

    Hi everybody, how are you?

I have two questions about Ubuntu 12.10 (32-bit).

    1) I have it installed on a Samsung SSD drive (fully dual-booting along side Windows 7). What changes do I need to make in Ubuntu, like I did in Windows, to keep my SSD hard drive running as smooth as possible. Pleas use specific instructions for I'm an Ubuntu rookie.

    2) If I close a window (for example a firewall), does it still work in the background?

    Thanks!

    1: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Solid_State_Drives

2: it depends on the process. Some will be backgrounded and will continue if you close the terminal window. Others will terminate when you close the window. You will normally get a warning in the latter case.

Thank you for the link, but could you be more precise and give me a list? For example, like here -blog.tune-up.com/tips-and-tricks/four-steps-to-optimize-your-ssd/ Thanks
