Unhappy Why can I not get Ubuntu 12.04.2 Server to boot from my USB stick?

I am so frustrated, I have tried and tried to get Ubuntu 12.04.2 Server to boot from my USB stick. I have tried a variety of different mounting softwares and different USB sticks. I have tried changing the file format on my USB stick from FAT 32 to NTFS. I have unplugged all other drives in my unit, leaving only the USB stick from which to boot. Currently, when I try to boot, it does recognize the USB stick and actually goes to the install screen where it gives me 5 different options, it does not give me the option to run and so I choose the install option. Nearly the first thing it does is to search for the CD/DVD drive and begins looking for files on a non existent install disk. If I try to bypass that step, then the next step starts looking for the install disk. This is where I'm stuck. I would greatly appreciate direction. Thank you.

Not sure if this matters, but, what are you using to make the bootable USB drive?

I suppose that could be the problem, I've been using "Universal USB installer-1.9.3.1.exe"
