    Good single-player offline game

I've searched high and low for suggestions for good single-player offline games for Linux and I get a lot of fps suggestions, but no real info on any of them.
I'll be without internet for a while soon and I'm looking for something to keep me busy and entertain me.
I've got AssaultCube and 0AD installed already, but AC is best played multiplayer.
Any suggestions for something free with a decent single-player mode? It can be anything from fps to platform. Frankly, Windows suggestions are welcome too.

I have played Nexuiz once. I am not that big on games, but I liked it a lot! I know it worked for me on Fedora - should not be a problem on Ubuntu either, I guess.

    Hi zer010.

These are the games that I've played lately, and had a great time with them:
    • Braid
    • Limbo
    • Rochard
    • Vessel

They are all mainly puzzle based games. All in the Software Center, except Vessel.

You can find several examples of gameplay in youtube.

    Have fun.
    Regards.
    Oopsy... all paid software there.

    Oh I forgot- Tux Racer.

I do not know if you would have interest in this simple game though!

Check out MegaGlest, a 3D RTS of (what I consider) fearsome difficulty, but maybe I haven't played it enough.

Warzone 2100 is a terrific 1999 (I think) commercial game that has only improved since it went open source.

Battle For Wesnoth is one of the MUST-have games for any platform.

Pingus is a recreation of the classic puzzle game Lemmings.

All are free and in the repositories.

I drink my Ubuntu black, no sugar.

    Re: Good single-player offline game

There's a fork of Nexuiz called Xonotic that I might try, but not sure if it has a proper single-player campaign.
Last time I tried Tux Racer on my older desktop, it brought it to it's knees! Dunno what was up with that, but I'm looking for something a lil deeper anyways.
I played Glest a couple years ago and as far as RTS goes, I have C&C:TFD to keep busy. I might still check it out as it should be pretty different.
Don't know if I've tried Warzone 2100, could be worth a look.
For the life of me, I've never been able to get BFW going right. Not that it doesn't run, I just can't seem to figure out what to do after the first turn...lol
I've played Pingus and it's not bad, but I think I'll skip it this go 'round.

Thank you all for the tips and if there are any that you can think of, don't hesitate to add!

huh it has a tutorial you know, and it is preety much self explanatory after that.

otherwise not many free single player oriented fps games. there are some good ones, but you would need to pay for them.
Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.
Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?
