Install Windows 7 on external drive in Ubuntu

I'm trying to install W7 on an external usb drive. I saw tutorials to do this but they were all in windows. I was wondering if there was a way to do this in ubuntu with vmware workstation or something like that

If you want to run Windows inside Ubuntu, try Virtualbox or VMware. This solution might be more convenient.

In my experience, Virtualbox works very well and should be painless to set everything up. I do not know much about VMWare though.

Do you just want to run the W7 installer?

Using gparted format drive NTFS and set boot flag.
Using Archive manager extract the iso file to the USB.

If you succeed in running the W7 OS from a USB drive please let me know how.
