Superior Drummer and EZDrummer by ToonTrack aren't made for Linux for a start. The other probably isn't either. I think you should perhaps have a look at what's available open source and perhaps delve into Ubuntu Studio for this. That comes with what you'll need pre-installed. I've never used Ubuntu for what you're doing although I do have UStudio installed on the desktop AV machine and have played around a bit. I dual-boot with Windows for all high-end audio stuff, but mostly nowadays for Sibelius. The furthest I go in Ubuntu is Audacity which I also use in Windows.

    Good luck and happy hunting.

PS: Hydrogen is the drum app I was thinking of (default in UStudio). You might also want to have a look here:

You may also want to become familiar with Jack, the audio plugin. That can be your friend when things get complex.

KXstudio is way better than Ustudio in my opinion. Superior drummer should work also.
    Have a look here:

Are you on the kxstudio forums? It's very active and helpful:

Involves jumping through a heap of Wine hoops which may or may not be successful. I'd stick with a Windows dual-boot, personally. The other option is a virtual machine.

    kxstudio manual
    Have you seen this:
    http://www.wiki.linuxmusicians.com/d...xstudio_manual
It's being put together now. Not much about drum software yet, but shows how to set up reaper, and reaper can host VST's. Some VST's work very well in wine and Reaper.
