assuming of course that you have gksu installed.
Just to add a bit ... The actual .desktop name may differ significantly from what you see in your file manager.
For example, you will see "Report a problem ..." in your file manager listing but the actual .desktop file is apport-gtk-mime.desktop.

I can't believe that this could happen this late in the cycle.

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...u/+bug/1172347

At least I can finally report a bug without getting booted off launchpad.

btw .. this is a most recent install from a daily about a week and a half ago. The other installs are working ok and also previously gksu was installed by default.

Apologies .. I should start another thread.

I see you got it but just as a note. If you drag & drop the the .desktop files in /usr/share/applications into an open root gedit window then you don't need to know the actual filename, - <whatever.desktop>
All the files in /usr/share/applications are .desktop files, (or shortcuts to), but what you see is the 'display' name, not the actual filename.
9the display name of a .desktop is whatever is on the .desktop's Name= line

I started another thread and in fact I was directed by dino99 and others to the exemplary information you have provided in the above link.

    Thank you.

Much better thanks. Still had a few more to do that I couldn't figure out the name.
