I'm running 12.10 with dual monitors and an ATI 7970 and the latest drivers from AMDs website. My install was flawless prior to hooking up my KVM switch, but now after I login I can't do anything, compiz crashes, unity crashes, I can't interact with the desktop at all or issue terminal commands.
I know it isn't the switch because it works fine with my laptop when I switch over to it.
My question is how can I troubleshoot this? Has anyone had a similar experience and can offer a solution? I'd really like to keep from having to reinstall Ubuntu if possible, because I love the OS, but it seems like this always happens to me, something happens and my install gets botched and I have to start all over. So if anyone has any resources on fixing / troubleshooting botched Ubuntu installs I'd really appreciate that also.
