    Exclamation Smart Scopes

I read an article on Tech Repblic about Smart Scopes and decided to try it following the instructions. When I attempted to log in I had only my wallpaper visible. Luckily I could enter a terminal session and fully recover to immediately remove Smart Scopes.

Caveat - this is an old laptop on which I usually don't run Unity. I'll probably give it a try on my HP Tower later today.

I'm pretty inexperienced with Ubuntu and would like to understand how to determine the validity of a ppa? I'm intrigued and really appreciated your answer!

    Re: Smart Scopes

I had smart scopes installed though the PPA and things were working fine and then the decision was made not to push smart scopes into 13.04 and about the same time there was an update to Unity. I got Unity 6.12 and it broke the desktop as you have found out. I had to purge that PPA to get the desktop back.

I tried installing smart scopes on another Raring install that had already been updated to Unity 6.12 and the result was the same. I guess we will have to wait until after the release of 13.04 when the development of 13.10 begins. I am sure that smart scopes will be quickly brought in.

    Regards.

So I replaced adult-scopes with smart-scopes and the link was broken - maybe I'm a bit dense but I wasn't looking for porn

Thanks! It was just a bit slightly greater than idle curiosity since I don't like Unity I was experimenting...I'll stick with gnome session fall back for now
