    eSATA Port Multiplyer enclosure

Over the weekend I built a Ubuntu box as a file/media server using an old Gigabyte motherboard I had previously used for an HTPC. The motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-E7AUM-DS2H with a Core 2 Quad cord Kensiington Q6600 CPU and 4GB RAM. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with Amahi Home Server running on top of it. As I mentioned, this server is running as a file server, and I have 5 internal 3.5" SATA HDDs, which are all detected and operating as expected. I also have a StarTech SAT3540U2E 4 Drive eSATA enclosure (3 bays full).

My problem is this: When I hook up the eSATA enclosure, Ubuntu only recognizes 1 of the drives. I can also hook it up via USB 2.0, but I believe eSATA should be faster. When hooked up via USB, all drives are seen.

I've been searching the forums, and I've seen issues with Ubuntu 9 from back in 2010, but no mention for Ubuntu 12. Does anybody have a suggestion of what I can do to get Ubuntu to recognize the remaining drives?

    Thanks!
