Re: Ubuntu doen't wake up from suspend

Nothing abnormal in the log file - as you stated, suspend/resume is working. Did you try all of the quirks from post #8?

Can you also try the following quirks:
    Code:
    sudo pm-suspend --quirk-vbemode-restore
    Code:
    sudo pm-suspend --quirk-reset-brightness
EDIT: Can you also post back from syslog:
    Code:
    cat /var/log/syslog | grep PM:
    Code:
    cat /var/log/syslog | grep drm
    EDIT2:
Does Ctrl+Alt+F1 get you to a visible text console?

and i cant access the terminal ...

i also tried all the suspend modes. except the one i mentioned, the modes didnt change anything... the screen turns black-off-black-off and then i get to the login... there must be something strange going on.
would it help if i upload a video of the waking up?

There isn't anything in your log files to help identify a cause. You stated in your original post that sometimes suspend/resume works. How often does it work vs how often does it not work?

Can I get a look at your Xorg.0.log file?
    Code:
    pastebinit /var/log/Xorg.0.log
And also, after resume, have you tried adjusting your brightness using the brightness function keys? Try both the up and down keys.

    Thanks for your support.
    Here the file:

The resuming doesnt work 1 out of 20 times... however - this 1/20 chance still sucks

Are any of these log files from right after an unsuccessful resume? If not, it might be more helpful if we saw all of these log files from right after an unssuccessful resume - I'm just not seeing anything relevant or related.

Unfortunately, the log file looks fine (in that it suspended and resumed and there were no error messages). I think you are right in your assessment that it is something with the graphics card not re-initializing properly every odd (1/20)th time. I'm not sure what else to suggest. You might want to look at updating the ATi drivers, but since I don't have one, I'm unable to assist or advise on how to do it.

Lightbulb Re: Ubuntu doen't wake up from suspend

    hello there,
i am using Ubuntu 13.04 on HP Pavilion g7 and have had this problem since 12.04.

I am not an expert on the Ubuntu Kernel but from my observation I think that when the system wakes up, after suspending, it doesn't activate the main monitor at all.
If you search for LVDS (the main monitor name) in the log file, you can't find it, instead you can find only VGA (the 2nd monitor name).

So I think that a command should be added in the wake up skript, where the activation of the LVDS is included.

If Toz or any other ubuntu developer could prove if i'm wrong or write and if so, finaly fix this problem, that would be great

My advent laptop wont wake up unless I press the power button, don't know if this is normal or related to your problems, just thought it was worth mentioning
