    Re: Steam

After struggling for many months, finally i found out it was my firewall that was not letting Steam client access the server.
When i switch off my firewall everything works fine. When i switch it on nothing works.
    Any suggession.

    Hi,

The following page lists the ports required by Steam:

Well, i know about those ports and it works when i open them. But i am not sure about the safety issues when we keep ports open in the firewall.
Is there any way to make things more secure but still have Steam working ?

Hmmm.... the only way I can think of is to run a script before running Steam to open the ports, then when you close it to run another script to close those ports. Without those open ports Steam will not work as you have seen.

Maybe someone else on the forum is clever enough to suggest a single script that opens the ports, runs steam, then when it detects steams has closed it closes the ports. This is beyond my knowledge at the moment.
