Question how to get itunes/itunes-like music player on lubuntu

    Hi everyone!

I am a newbie here and don't know that much about Lubuntu.

I don't think that you can put iTunes on Lubuntu without an emulator, but I want a music program that can play songs in albums and shuffle music like iTunes can that I can run in lubuntu. Does anyone know what sort of program this would be??

    Thanks!

You can perhaps run ITunes on it through Wine.. (interestingly it isn't an emulator, its Name, swathed in recursion that programmers love so much, stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator)

but I always hated iTunes, just isn't nice software.

Is a lot of music players on ubuntu that would do the same job (provided you don't need them to sync an iPod)

    my favourites are:

    Rythmbox

    Amarok

    and perhaps Banshee (requires mono)

Hi. Have you installed Lubuntu restricted extras? See here:

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats

According to the site, just enter in the lxterminal
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install lubuntu-restricted-extras
Of course it will ask you for your password which you will enter and hit enter.

There's so many in the repositories you can try. Quod Libet, Exaile, Guayadeque, Gmusicbrowser, Musique, Rhythmbox, Banshee, Clementine, Amarok. They're all free of course so you've got nothing to lose by downloading a few and trying them out to see which one suits you.

Don't be deterred if the last ones in the list mention Gnome or KDE, they all work on Lubuntu just fine.
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.

Will the music players designed for Lubuntu run faster?

If so, which ones are designed for Lubuntu?

there are heavier and lighter applications, you clearly are wanting a lighter one. guayadesque and gmusicbrowser are good light options.
