Questions about web apps on non-Unity DEs

Most of talk about web apps is in connection with Unity.
But what about other flavors such as Lubuntu or Xubuntu?
Do people running Lubuntu or Xubuntu use web apps?
What advantages can there be to use web apps on non-Unity DEs?
Aren't web apps on non-Unity DEs a bit limited compared to using tabbed browsing in an actual browser?

Re: Questions about web apps on non-Unity DEs

The term "web app" can describe a lot of things. Web apps running on things like Java have been around for years, and have nothing to do with what DE you use. These days you'll see more stuff like AJAX, and arguably any modern site doing a lot of client-side scripting through js is a "web app". So that would include stuff like web mail.

Or do you mean desktop integration of online services, such as the way Gmail and Twitter can hook into Ubuntu now?

Can you give an example of the type of web app you were thinking of.

Yes, those are examples. On the page here, most of them are in the Unity context.

AFAIK those are just for Unity.

It's not just web apps, it's other programs like Xara Xtreme. It runs in other distros, but not without frustration because it is configured for Unity.
