Post How to recuperate deleted files

I created a new user account and the deleted said user account, but inadvertently also deleted some files I had downloaded under that account. Is there someway to recuperate them? I have not made any changes (created or deleted files) to disk since then.

    Thanks,

There are methods, but they appear complicated and may not be appropriate for what you want to accomplish because they pertain to formatted hard discs . There is an application in the software center named scalpel , but I know little about it other than it supposed to work as a data recovery tool.

    TestDisk

I'm not sure if it works with ext4 file system, though. A few years ago it used to work with ext2 file system. Worth the look, at least.

I does. The bit the op needs is photorec which can recover deleted files. Op needs to read up on it first.

Photorec can recover all manner of files types.
