xfce fails to load after update

I just updated my mythbuntu server for the first time in a couple of weeks, and when it rebooted, X would not start. I am running 12.04 LTS. I have been using it "headless" without a monitor, using x11vnc for several months now without a problem. After this recent update, I can't connect via VNC any more. Here's some information:

    xorg.conf:

    Code:
    Section "InputDevice"
            Identifier "Dummy Input"
            Driver "void"
    EndSection
    Section "Device"
            Identifier "Dummy Video"
            Driver "dummy"
    EndSection
    Section "Monitor"
            Identifier "Configured Monitor"
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
            Identifier "Default Screen"
            Monitor "Configured Monitor"
            Device "Dummy Video"
    EndSection
    Section "ServerLayout"

            Screen "Default Screen"
            InputDevice "Dummy Input"

08/02/2013 16:32:51 X DAMAGE available on display, using it for polling hints.
08/02/2013 16:32:51 To disable this behavior use: '-noxdamage'
    08/02/2013 16:32:51
08/02/2013 16:32:51 Most compositing window managers like 'compiz' or 'beryl'
08/02/2013 16:32:51 cause X DAMAGE to fail, and so you may not see any screen
08/02/2013 16:32:51 updates via VNC. Either disable 'compiz' (recommended) or
08/02/2013 16:32:51 supply the x11vnc '-noxdamage' command line option.
    08/02/2013 16:32:51
08/02/2013 16:32:51 XFIXES available on display, resetting cursor mode
    08/02/2013 16:32:51 to: '-cursor most'.
08/02/2013 16:32:51 to disable this behavior use: '-cursor arrow'
    08/02/2013 16:32:51 or '-noxfixes'.
08/02/2013 16:32:51 using XFIXES for cursor drawing.

08/02/2013 16:32:51 (induced by either user keystroke or mouse input).
08/02/2013 16:32:51 If this yields undesired behavior (poor response, painting
08/02/2013 16:32:51 errors, etc) it may be disabled via: '-noscr'
08/02/2013 16:32:51 Also see the -help entry for tuning parameters.
08/02/2013 16:32:51 You can press 3 Alt_L's (Left "Alt" key) in a row to
08/02/2013 16:32:51 repaint the screen, also see the -fixscreen option for
    08/02/2013 16:32:51 periodic repaints.

Have you tried the x11vnc '-ncache' VNC client-side pixel caching feature yet?

The scheme stores pixel data offscreen on the VNC viewer side for faster
retrieval. It should work with any VNC viewer. Try it by running:

        x11vnc -ncache 10 ...

One can also add -ncache_cr for smooth 'copyrect' window motion.
    More info: http://www.karlrunge.com/x11vnc/faq.html#faq-client-caching
