Cool Alienware in the US sells gaming PCs with Ubuntu

Dell has doubled up on its range of PCs which run Ubuntu, following up its Ubuntu Ultrabook release with a Ubuntu-running desktop PC aimed at gaming – Dell subsidiary Alienware, which specialises in gaming hardware, is now selling its X51 series desktop PC in the US with Ubuntu 12.04 pre-installed.

According to a blog post announcing this news, Dell actually got the idea to use Ubuntu as an operating system on its Alienware gaming machines from a participant on its Idea Storm forum back in 2008.

Horrible prices, but great news! All my steam games run through wine, some run way better than they did on Windows. Glad to see Linux gaming is getting alot better.

    i agree.

furthermore it is bad they only have desktops. one can put together those easilly. not so easy to do with ultrabooks and notebooks.
Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.
Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?
Full disk backup (newer kernel -> suitable for newer PC): Clonezilla
User friendly full disk backup: Rescuezilla
