    10.04 LTS or 12.04 LTS

Hi, forums! I'm about to install my first home server using ubuntu. Should I worry about deciding between 10.04 LTS and 12.04 LTS? I'll be using this server for personal files within the home and for learning ubuntu. I've been studying on the 10.04 LTS documentation only. Any help would be appreciated.

IMHO you should go with 12.04 LTS because it will be supported until April of 2017 unlike 10.04 LTS which will ceased to be supported in April of 2015.

    Hi Gannas.

Contrary to the evolution of the desktop editions, which have changed "a lot", both server versions, 10.04 and 12.04, do not differ drastically. In other words, what you have read and studied will be help you either way.

12.04 is newer and also a Long Term Support (LTS) version. I would go with that if I were you.

    Regards.
