Zim Desktop Wiki - weird behaviour for systray

Hi, I know this is not a strictly Ubuntu issue, but perhaps someone here is using Zim and may have a solution.

The machine: Asus Eee PC x101ch, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Zim: The available version freshly installed from USC

What I want to do: to start up Zim systray icon
What the manual told me to do: zim --plugin systray -> and I did that

What my computer does: Upon start-up it doesn't start Zim (in systray or any way). I waited for couple of minutes to see if it'll show up. Nothing. Then I went to remove it from start-up when I observed a weird behaviour and I rebooted a couple of times just to verify this behaviour (it happened every time) - only and only upon entering "Start-up programs" the tray icon appears. Albeit with no options, no quit, no notebook - unusable, so I just started Zim from Dash, at which point the tray icon got it's menu back. What gives?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I found a solution for this -> I installed Gnote
Zim has more options, but Gnote starts-up in the systray.
