    Fresh install of 10.10 will not upgrade

    W:Failed to fetch http://extras.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dist...rce/Sources.gz 404 Not Found

    , E:Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

    yes i'm too lazy to burn the newest image to disc and old laptop doesn't boot from usb

    10.10 is out of support and the software repositories are closed.

    Even if you upgrade to 11.04 what then, upgrading one by one to the latest? So many upgrades in a row in most cases will create some issues.

    Don't be lazy and do a clean install of 12.04 which is LTS and will be supported until 2017.

    Its expired. I had to do a new clean install on my 10.10. I run fallback or gnome-panel to give me the gnome2 look like 10.10 was and think performance on my 6 year old system is slightly better with 12.04.
