Extremely sluggish performance on Pavilion dv6

I'm not entirely new to Linux (been using Ubuntu for a year) but I got a new laptop and have Wubi installed on it for now. It's got a quad-core AMD processor with Radeon graphics and it's super slow. If anyone could help me getting this working at a decent speed, I'll love you forever. Thanks!

Have you tried installing the graphic driver for your card?: http://askubuntu.com/q/47506/14916

As a matter of fact, I have. Before in "Details" it said my graphics were unknown and now it says that the driver is VESA: SUMO however, I'm not entirely sure this is what it should be.

EDIT: Just want to point out that in Additional Drivers under Software Sources it says I have an "AMD nee ATI: BeaverCreek [Mobility Radeon HD G]" and that I'm using a "video driver for the AMD graphics accelerators from fglrx-updates (proprietary)". I had an update last night and when I rebooted my computer this morning, things seem to be better but I'm not sure everything is optimized.
