How do I download unetbootin 583 ,the latest program

I'm in ubuntu 12.10 .I want to download Mint 13 but the only unetbootin the ubuntu Software center has is old. and doesn't include the latest Linux programs.(Linux Mint 13) So I WANT TO DOWNLOAD THE NEWEST VERSION OF UNETBOOTIN, which is 583 and install it in Ubuntu, so I've downloaded it to DOWNLOADS but how do I get it so I can use it. Ubuntu software center doesn't support updating Unetbootin.

Go to the Unetbootin site and download 583.

As I said above, I have and it is in my downloads but it has to be put somewhere were it will run , it won't run from downloads

So I just tried it from the site and got this.

dpkg-deb: error: `unetbootin-linux-583' is not a debian format archive

Looks like you need to do it in windows.

I have downloaded it it is in my downloads but it is not a executable file, It says it has to be opened with a application and I have to pick the application I have no Idea what that application is.

Follow the directions that begin "It is really simple..."

Unetbootin is not necessary (though you may use it, if you prefer the indirect method).
