    Re: 12.04 - Wireless Connectivity

I'm using 64 bit, and I double click those files and it has the install button disabled asking me to install a package of the files.

I think it wants you to install one of the other packages first, so try another and leave that one to last.
    Thanks

No because I don't have internet but the reason it's not allowing me to is because it's saying it wants me to install the entire package not one of the files, yes I have tried all of them. Is there not an overide?

If it will not let you then there is probably another issue and trying to force it would most likely break your system.
    Thanks

Let's see what errors or warnings we get when we try the updated kernel. First, what architecture do you have; 32- or 64-bit?
    Code:
    arch
If you get i686, that's a 32-bit system and you'll need these packages:

    http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa...81635_i386.deb

    http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa...081635_all.deb

    http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa...81635_i386.deb

    http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa...81635_i386.deb

If you get x86_64, then you'll need the amd64 packages Wild Man referred to above. Please download whichever you need and place them on your desktop. Then open a terminal and do:
    Code:
    cd Desktop
    sudo dpkg -i linux-*.deb
It ought to install all four at once. Then reboot and see if your wireless is working.

    Re: 12.04 - Wireless Connectivity

I installed 3.8 using the method described above, it doesn't really change anything. I tried the previous code again and it still gave an error at the last command. After trying those commands however my wi-fi no longer picks up networks and only gives the option for VPN.. so I don't know what's up. Should I re-install Ubuntu? and if so, how can I fix the error from a new installation.

    echo "options ath9k nohwcrypt=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf
    sudo modprobe -rfv ath9k
    sudo modprobe -v ath9k
