    AMD Releases Open-Source UVD Video Support

    According to Phoronix, AMD will be publishing open-source driver code that exposes their Unified Video Decoder (UVD) engine on modern Radeon HD graphics cards.

    According to Phoronix not only the code patch is already out but also the Mesa patches.

    Looks like i'm running out of reasons why not to upgrade my ageing mobo with onboard Radeon 3000 series graphics to something a bit snappier

    Great news!!
    Here is the how to however it is not newbie-friendly.
    Could anyone eloborate that page? I am in a trouble about compiling mesa from git.
