    Re: Install Ubuntu on Android

    You can't.

Edit: To elaborate, Ubuntu on Android is only available to Hardware Manufactures who wish to make use of Ubuntu on their phones. It's a closed source project by Canonical.

unless you're referring to the developer preview.. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install
but don't expect full functionality out of your phone. post-installation, you won't be able to do much.

I do not think that it is closed source. It is just that it is not intended to be downloaded and installed the way we install Ubuntu on a desktop or laptop. Many have taken what is called the phablet image and are porting it to many devices.

It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.

There is also the Linux on Android team over at XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1585009

I run Ubuntu on my Nexus 7 (yet to try on my Xperia Z) and it works really well - they have tweaked images to download from Sourceforge to install and run via VNC and chroot.

Sure its not a native install but it does work
