I am using 13.04 and I still can't search recursively with Nautilus 3.6.3. I also have NEMO and no issues with it.

I am aware of this, I was just allowing for more dev releases before 3.8 "final" version appears.
The question is, will 13.04 update to 3.8 Nautilus eventually? Or will we have to use the Gnome3 PPA until 13.10?

Works fine, it searches recursively from dir. shown in button just to right of the search input

Now that 13.04 final was released, can anyone say if there were any changes from 13.04-beta Nautilus?

(unfortunately I had to downgrade to 12.10)

Ubuntu is still Gnome based, so we have to make do with FIles (Nautilus), or change to one of the many other file managers available in the repositories.

I like the features of Nemo, but I think Nautilus is looking the best it ever has. Nemo does have Ubuntu theming but it looks rather dated and not streamlined. Good on them though, I think I it's great that they forked it when Nautilus took the disappointing direction it did.

In the meantime, do any of the other managers have that tree view feature? I consider that indispensable. I had come to love the variety of ways Nautilus let me look at files, with extra panes etc., but especially tree view. I didn't realize how important those things were to me until they took them away. I've looked at screenshots for various other file managers but none of them look as rich and powerful as Nautilus was before this current version. In particular, I don't see tree view in any of them. I hope somebody will tell me I'm wrong?

I test Nautilus, but I use PCManFM.

Here's PCManFM (Directory Tree) vs. Nautilus (Places)...
