How to install Xorg (Open source ATI) drivers?

I had to remove the open-source ATI drivers and use a proprietary one for some time. I'm ready to re-install Xorg and switch back...but how do I do it?

I think it is automatic. Remove the proprietary driver, then reboot. The open driver gets loaded automatically. Keep a Live DVD handy just in case.
